FAQ

  • What is better, private or group lessons?
That entirely depends on the person(s). We can tell you the pros and cons of each... Private lessons are generally considered better because you can schedule them at your convenience and they focus only on you. So, you can learn at your own speed and focus on your dance preferences. The drawback is private lessons are the most expensive way to learn. Group lessons are a more affordable option to learn. However, you are required to be available when the class is running, you must focus on the dance(s) being offered and you can only learn as fast as the slowest student in class.
  • Are prices per person, or per couple?
Private lessons are charged per instructor for up to 2 people dancing together where there is 1 leader and 1 follower. Meaning a couple dancing together with the instructor is 1 private lesson. Group Classes or 6 week courses are charged per person. Semi Private Lessons are charged per person.
  • How long will it take?
Unfortunately, there is no way for us to say. Dancing is a muscular coordinated skill that is learned. How long does it take for someone to learn how to play basketball? Obviously, it depends on a lot of factors. What we can tell you is, like any other sport, the more you practice the better you will get faster. For most people, 5-10 private lessons will get you by in 1-2 dances. In other words, you should feel comfortable and somewhat smooth. To achieve the equivalent in group classes, would be more like 12-18 classes.
